Well I finally decided to do this. I am going to talk about the popular holiday Halloween. Now the traditions of this holiday of "dressing up in costumes", "making Jack-o-lanterns", "trick-or-treating" among others date back before Christianity came to Northern Europe (around the Great Britain area). Now I was going to do detailed research on this but I never took the time to do so. Instead I am only going to tell you what I know from memory. Most of what I will say about this topic will be common knowledge.
"Halloween" is a slang term for "Oh Hallows Eve" which is a Catholic holiday that precedes "All Saints Day". It is my understanding that the Catholic Church did this so the Celtic People could still keep their traditions and be Christians too. This happen after The Roman Emperor Constantine became a Christian and made it the official one of the empire. Now this is both a good thing and a bad thing. The good thing about it is that Christians would no longer be persecuted. The bad thing is it began a tradition of just declaring someone a Christian without them actually acknowledging faith in Christ. This is one of the things about the Catholic Church that was ridiculed during the 15th,16th and 17th centuries that led to the Protestant Reformation.
Well a lot of the traditions that go with this holiday have a lot of ties to the Occult. "Dressing up and "trick or treating" are two of these traditions. This was done because it was believe that on this night "Demons" or "evil spirits" will come out and try to enter people's homes. So they dressed up like them so when they arrived they would see and believe that there were already "demons" or "evil spirits" in that home and they would leave. For some reason this was lost and "dressing up" became a kid thing and which is why the holiday is now geared more towards kids.
And the argument people use to defend the holiday is to say it allows kids to play "dress-up" but since when do kids did a reason to play dress up. Kids play dress up all the time. It's the one thing kids still do that isn't none violent or dangerous.
Well that is all I am going to say about Halloween. Remember this one thing about the holiday. It's also called "Reformation Day" because that is when that period began. Coming next Month: A report on Thanksgiving.
