The Bell rings ending the period.
Michelle gathers her books and is about to leave the classroom when the teacher
stops her.
“Michelle,” he said, “I don’t know
what you are but you are not human are you?”
“What gives you that idea?” asked
Michelle.
“You were not paying attention to me
when the class began,” said the teacher, “and yet you knew exactly what I said.
Now what are you? A Fairy? Werewolf? Dragon? Witch? Genie? Vampire? Mermaid?”
“I’m none of those, sir,” said
Michelle, “I’m just as much a human being as you are, if you are.”
“What makes you think I’m not
human?” asked the teacher.
“Nothing,” said Michelle, “may I
leave? I would like to eat lunch before 4th period.”
“You didn’t answer my question,”
said the teacher.
“How do you even know about those
seven groups if you’re not a member of one of them?” asked Michelle.
“I…uh…,” he stutters, “don’t have to
answer that.”
“Alright,” said Michelle, who looks
at her watch, “then I don’t have to continue this conversation.”
She leaves the room with the teacher
not real sure how to respond other than to express himself through thought.
“Vampire,”
he thought, “Deny it if you want but I
know what you are. And the day will come that werewolves will take over.”
Lunch Period…[U2]
Michelle sits down at a table to eat
her lunch when students start coming up to her begging to serve her calling her
‘Your Majesty.’
“What’s
going on?” she wanders, “These kids
actually want to serve me.”
“Well
you are the queen of the vampires,” said a familiar voice.
“You
again,” said Michelle, “Will you ever
leave me alone?”
“What
fun will that be to leave you alone?” said the voice, “When it is your destiny to embrace what you are!”
“I
will never embrace being the Queen of the Vampires!” yelled Michelle in a
very loud telepathic voice without realizing it.
“My queen,” said a fellow student,
“what’s wrong?”
Deciding to go alone with the way
she was being treated at this moment Michelle says, “Nothing, I’m alright.”
“Are you sure, my queen,” said the
student, “you look like you were having an argument with someone via telepathy.
Perhaps you would like me to help you shut that person up?”
“You can do that?” asked Michelle.
“I can try,” said the student,
“Please let me try.”
“No,” said Michelle, “not that I’m
saying I am having a telepathic conversation with someone but no I don’t want
or need your help.”
“But my queen,” said the student, “I
feel so incomplete if I don’t do something for you on a daily basis.”
“You feel incomplete, hmm,” said
Michelle.
The student nods her head to
confirm.
“Okay,” said Michelle, “This is your
assignment today to help me out.”
“Yes, my queen?” asked the student.
“That’s it,” said Michelle, “stop
calling me Queen. I’m not the queen of the vampires. I’m an everyday human
teenage girl. My name is Michelle. And that is what you are to call me from now
on. Understand?”
“Yes, my que… I mean Michelle,” said
the student.
“Good,” said Michelle, “now I would
like to finish my lunch now. Please, leave me in peace. Oh and if you think I
won’t punish you for disobeying me. Remember I am a slayer. I will hunt you
down and stake your hearts.”
“It’s
not a good idea to say that Michelle,” said the voice, “It could cause a mutiny. You better embrace
what you are right now in order to stop that from happening.”
“I’ve
already embraced what I am,” said Michelle, “I’m Michelle Van Helsing, the vampire slayer. That is my destiny. My
only destiny. Now go away right now!”
“Okay,
but you’ve been warned,” said the voice.
