Well I am back with another review of the first season of Saved by the Bell. I have just watched episodes 9-15. Now again I love this show. Not all episodes are my favorites but the ones I saw today are in the list below:
Episode 9: Pinned to the Mat
Since I have a lot of episodes to discuss I am going to just give as brief of a summary as a can on each one. Career Week, wrestling match and a bet for a dirt bike. That is this episode. Slater wants to wrestle and not worry about his future. Zack wants him to wrestle so he can get someone's dirt bike and well that's it.
Episode 10: The Beauty and the Screech
George Michael concert; science test and a crush on a nerd is what this episode is about. Kelly wins tickets to a concert. Zack wants her to take him. Slater wants her to take him. She wants an A on a science test so she can go. Screech tutors her and she does get that A. He hates George Michael and they break up a relationship they never really had. She decides not to go to the concert and Zack ends up going to it with Slater.
Episode 11: The Friendship Business
The gang starts a business for economics class. And just like in the real world they disagree on something; split into two; compete against one another; then merge and choose friendship over everything else which indicates they learned the greatest lesson in business.
Episode 12: The Mamas and the Papas
The gang has a project for Social Science class where they are married couples for a week. Zack is with Kelly. Slater is with Jessie and Lisa is with Screech. That is until their marriage is annulled due to Lisa's allergy. But they do end up being part of the other two couple's projects. Screech is Zack and Kelly's son and Lisa is Jessie and Slater's daughter. When Slater has Screech break up Zack and Kelly, they are kicked out of the project until the end of the week when they are welcomed back and everyone passed.
Episode 13: Save that Tiger
The Cheer-leading Championships is coming up and of course that means a prank war is reignited between Bayside and their rivals Valley. They play pranks on each other through out the episode but when the Valley students try to ruin the Bayside Cheer, it backfires when they still win the competition.
Episode 14: The Election
It's student election time and Zack could care less until he learns of a free trip to Washington D.C. for the winner of the Student Body Election. He runs; finds out it is cancel and tries to get himself beaten but still wins by one vote. After winning and finding out the trip isn't cancel after all he gives up the office to his opponent and best friend Jessie Spano.
Episode 15: The Zack Tapes
It's time for the sweetheart dance and Zack wants to go with Kelly and Screech wants to go with Lisa. Due to finding out about the trouble Zack is in with Mr. Belding Kelly chooses Slater instead of Zack. Learning about hidden messages in advertising class leads Zack and Screech to try it on their friends and classmates and it works for a while. But when it backfires Zack learns a lesson about not trying to play with people's minds.
Okay, I love most of these episodes. Again like I said in Part 1, I don't hate any one particular episode because of the episode itself but because of the number of times I have seen it. I do have something to say about one particular episode: The Mamas and the Papas.
In this episode, Mr. Belding said they put the kids together according to alphabetical order. This can't be right because this is how they should have been paired up according to their last names:
Morris Kapowski
Powers Spano
Slater Turtle
The only one they go right there is Zack and Kelly. Here is how it would go according to first names.
Albert Jessie
Samuel Kelly
Zack Lisa
Here only Slater and Jessie was correct and in each one Screech is not paired with Lisa. The writers goofed up when pairing them up and using this as an excuse and the reason they did this I believe is because it is what made the most since for the plot of the episode. Everyone knows that Slater and Zack have been fighting over Kelly and that Screech is crazy for Lisa so pairing the latter two together made since and putting Zack with Kelly would cause conflict between him and Slater and they put him with the one girl who would cause conflict in the relationship because of her beliefs. That is the only reason they paired them up the way they did. It had nothing to do with the alphabet unless they used a different alphabet that we do or they used last names to pair Zack with Kelly and first names to pair Albert with Jessie and then put Lisa and Screech just because they were what was leftover. I don't know but this does end my review of these seven episodes. In part three I will review the last five episodes of the season which include what is considered the first episode of the series.
