“What’s going on?” asked Michelle.
“We are merging whether you want us
to or not,” said the voice.
“But we agreed not to do this,” said
Michelle, “to just be partners.”
“Well look on the bright side,” said
the voice, “you won. In a matter of minutes I will no longer exist. It will be
just Michelle the vampire-slaying Vampire Queen.”
She laughs.
“Talk about your irony,” said the
voice, “you are still going to be able to do what you’ve always wanted to: slay
vampires; but at the same time create those monsters to serve you.”
“But I don’t even know how to summon
my clan,” said Michelle.
“Once I’m gone,” said the voice,
“all of that knowledge will be passed along to you. You’ll know what to do and
when to do it. Trust me on that.”
“As much as I wanted to defeat you,”
said Michelle, “you are still a part of me and this is not how I wanted to see
it end.”
“Isn’t it?” asked the voice, “but I
can go away now knowing that you have finally embraced your destiny as a
vampire queen. And look it’s not as bad as you thought it was now was it?”
“No,” said Michelle, “but just
because I’ve embraced it doesn’t mean I’m going to turn all out evil.”
“Not all Vampire Queens are evil,”
said the voice, “Asked your grandmother. The fact that you are both a queen and
a slayer may finally allow the war between the two groups ends after centuries
of fighting one another.”
“But why does it feel like I’m
losing a friend when all we’ve done is fight each other for control over my
body?” asked Michelle.
“Because you needed to fight me in
order to learn that you needed to be me in order to survive in the world,” said
the voice, “I’ve done my part to help you along the way. The rest is up to you.
Good-bye old Friend.”
With that the image of Michelle’s
vampire queen form disappeared in her mind.
“Good-bye,” said Michelle, “Now
what?”
“She’s gone,” said Michelle with
excitement, “The voice is gone. I no longer have a split-personality.”
She hugs her mother.
“That’s good,” said Mary who takes
in the embrace, “but I see that you have fully embraced being a vampire queen.”
“Yeah, I have,” said Michelle,
“about that. I know it’s not going to be easy but I will keep the vampire queen
side of me in check.”
“Michelle,” said Mary, “there is no
vampire queen side of you now that she is gone. The vampire queen is you.”
“Yes but that vampire queen is still
a vampire slayer,” said Michelle, “And tonight she’s going hunting.”
“How are you going to know the
vampires you are slaying are yours or not?” asked Mary.
“We’re connected through my blood,”
said Michelle, “that is how I will know.”
“When are you going to summon your
clan?” asked Mary.
“When the next full moon rises,”
said Michelle.
“Michelle,” said Mary, “that’s
tonight.”
“Oh,” said Michelle, “Well then I
guess I better go prepare the cave.”
She enters the cave.
“Oh
dear,” thought Mary, “The world is in
trouble now.”
She becomes her fairy form and
creates a portal and enters.
Another portal opens and Mary in her
fairy form comes through and it closes. She then resumes her human form.
“Well,” said David, “you’re home.”
“Yeah,” said Mary, “I’m home.”
“Where’s Michelle?” asked David.
“In the cave below, preparing to
summon her clan,” said Mary.
“So she’s…” began David.
“Yeah,” said Mary, “she’s fully
embraced her destiny as a Vampire Queen. Well maybe not fully because she still
wants to be a slayer or so she says but that’s where she is at the moment and
what she is doing.”
“Trouble is coming,” said David,
“you know that right?”
“Yeah,” said Mary, “I know.”

Inside
the Van Helsing Cave…
Michelle looks around the dark cave
and begins to wonder how Victoria made her cave a livable environment.
“She
doesn’t have access to witchcraft like I do,” Michelle thought to herself,
“but she might have used that genie she
summoned this afternoon or another one for that matter. I don’t know how old
she is or how long she has been queen so it’s no telling how long that genie
has been in her service.”
As she investigates the cave she
runs into a stone statue of a human girl.
“Ouch,” she cried, “better watch
where I’m going.”
In an instant her vision improved
inside the cave.
