Happy Birthday Power Rangers

Well let me start off my saying Happy 20th Birthday Power Rangers! It has been almost an awesome time watching you defeat many villains over the years. I say almost because like most fans I don't too much like the episodes that aired as new in 2010 because they were a rehash of the first season and only the first 32 episodes. So besides saying Happy Birthday what else will I say about the show. Well how about sharing my memories of watching this show.

When it first premiered I wasn't interested. It was live action and I was more still into watching cartoons on Saturday mornings even though I was in High School. Cartoons and the very popular Saved by the Bell. Well when I found out they were superheroes I was interested because that kind of thing has always peeked my interests. Well one Saturday morning when my mom and sisters were gone somewhere I watched an episode with my dad and fell in love. Unfortunately I was allowed to watch it because it was "of the devil" Well that was an excused to keep me from watching any program I enjoyed. And it wasn't "of the devil" There was nothing Anti-Christian about it. Well that being said when I entered my Senior year of High School I was allowed to watch it because I was told I couldn't when I went to College even though it would be my choice anyway. My parents decided I could if I wanted to and I have been watching ever since.

I'm not a big fan of watching repeats a whole lot. I have been purchasing the box sets when they come out and watching them but only that one time. I haven't watch them a second time except for research purposes. But when seasons are aired on TV, I will watch them through one time and that is it because I really don't have the time to watch the episodes over and over again. I have only seen each episode of the current season one time with one or two exceptions.

Well so why do I like the show so much and why am I still a fan at 35 years old. It is because whether they promote Christianity or not Superheroes and the villains they fight and a representation of a very real battle of Good vs. Evil. And a very accurate representation too, Good always wins. You never actually see the bad guys triumph in any season of Power Rangers. Okay, you can say the bad guys may have won at the end of Turbo but did Divatox actually stay on Earth and conquer after she defeated the Turbo Rangers. No, she flees to another planet because a bigger badder villain told her too. And what did the Rangers do? They followed her. You can also say the original series ended with a villain victory but whether you are talking about the season 3 finale or the mini-series finale it is revealed at the beginning of the next episode that their victories are short live (The Alien Rangers mini-series brought in another team to fight the villains and they were then overthrown by the Machine Kingdom.)
