While asleep in her bed alongside
her husband, Mary suddenly woke up and turned toward her husband.
“David?” she asked.
“Yes?” he asked.
“I’ve just got a funny feeling that
something bad is about to happen,” said Mary, “A very powerful spell has just
been cast and it is one that is forbidden.”
“Uh, Mary?” asked David, “Shouldn’t
you be careful in regards to your fairy powers because wouldn’t using them in
human form turn you into a witch?”
“As the queen,” said Mary, “I am
sometimes able to use certain abilities in human form that won’t turn me into a
witch. These abilities are just really instincts really. The same kind humans
have and my instincts tell me that a genie has cast a spell on a couple of
vampires allowing them to go to Atlantis.”
“Wait isn’t there vervain in
Atlantis?” asked David
“Yes,” said Mary, “The whole
atmosphere is loaded down with it. But that is not the point. Vampires can’t
even swim down deep enough to even enter the city unless they are granted
Atlantisian forms which will allow them to enter that city undetected.
Fortunately there is a catch, they can only stay for a week. Failure to do so
means instant death because of the vervain in the atmosphere choking the
vampire.”
They both sit up.
“Why is this spell so forbidden?”
asked David.
“Because it can be granted on a
queen who is still technically human and every vampire in the clan could then
enter the city undetected and stay as long as they want.”
“Oh my,” said David, “can you tell
me which genie it was?”
“Not without resuming my fairy queen
form,” said Mary who immediately got out of bed.
She touches the gem in the crown on
her head and wishes to become a fairy. In an instant she is one. She summons a
portal and is about to pass through when her husband asks where she is going.
“I’m going to have to go to the
fairy whelm,” she replied, “I’ll be back soon.”
She passes through the portal.
She closes the portal immediately
and fairies quickly come to her aid.
“My queen,” said her top aid, “what
a pleasant surprise? What brings you to the fairy realm at 4:30 in the
morning?”
“Let’s stop it with the formalities
and just cut to the chase,” said Mary, “a genie just cast a spell on two
vampires allowing them to go to Atlantis.”
“Oh my,” said the aid, “any idea who
the genie is?”
“No,” said Mary, “but I promise my
mother when she passed her crown to me that I would continue her pledge to
monitor all use of magic to assure usage doesn’t imbalance the scale of good
and evil.”
“What should we do?” asked the aid.
“Bring up on the screen all known
active genies and who their masters currently are,” instructed Mary.
When the names came up there was one
that stood out among them: Jessica.
“No!” she said, “Not her too!”
“Do you know that particular genie?”
asked the aid.
“Yes, I do,” said Mary, “back when
she was a fairy, she was assigned to watch over and protect my daughter. A
fairy I made myself and with that purpose in mine. She sacrificed her fairy
form and became a witch in order to protect my daughter. After that she went
off the radar and I assumed she may have stopped using magic or even denounced
the craft to become human again to avoid the genie-makers. It was after that
when Melinda became a vampire via her rogue boyfriend and ran off to another
town. I didn’t know that Jessica had been made a genie and was serving
actively. Who’s her master?”
“My queen,” said the top aid, “It’s
Victoria, queen of the vampires.”
“How did she get her hands on a
genie?” asked Mary, “and more specifically, how did she get her hands on
Jessica’s bottle?”
“Says here that Jessica has been
serving as Victoria’s genie for 13 years,” said the aid.
“Does it give any kind of indication
of when Jessica became a genie?” asked Mary.
“She became a genie about 13 years
ago,” said the aid, “says her that she immediately after becoming a witch
openly used her craft to draw out a warlock and allowed herself to become a
genie.”
“She was punishing herself for
becoming a witch,” said Mary, “but she did that to protect my daughter, I can’t
blame her for that.”
“But my queen,” said the aid, “she
is now a tool of darkness and has cast a spell for the purpose of an evil creature.
She has to be destroyed so her spell can be reversed.”
“No,” said Mary, “she does not need
to be destroyed; just removed from Victoria as her master and perhaps freed
from her bottle.”
“If you would like,” said the aid,
“I’ll come up with some kind of plan to do just that.”
“I like that idea,” said Mary, “but
my next question is who are the vampires she gave access to Atlantis are?”
“That would be a young teen named
Wendy and her mom, Wanda,” said the aid, “and that’s odd.”
“What’s wrong?” asked Mary.
“It says here,” began the aid, “well
let me just put it up on the screen for you to see for yourself.”
She puts it on the screen.
“No,” said Mary, “It can’t be. The
vampires are the queen and princess-to-be of Atlantis themselves, “But how did
she managed to turn them into vampires.”
“According to my information,” said
the aid, “they were among the injured at that tent meeting thing.”
“Wait were they both injured?” asked
Mary.
“No,” said the aid, “just the girl
but somehow or another they were both tricked into becoming vampires.
“Well if the girl was injured,” said
Mary, “I imagine she only needed to die to become a vampire because they would
have used my granddaughter’s blood in order to save her life but we know that
both her and Wanda or loyal to Victoria which can only mean one thing.”
“What’s that?” asked the aid.
“They were given her blood instead
of Michelle’s,” said Mary.
“But why would they need the genie
in order to return to Atlantis if that is where they are from?” asked the aid.
“Well,” said Mary, “it’s like this.
Atlantisians can’t reenter Atlantis with vampire blood in their system. And if
it is queen’s blood then they can’t ever return to Atlantis at all without
assistance.”
“And a genie’s spell will do just
that?” asked the aid.
“Correct,” said Mary, “but on
vampires it would only be temporary.”
How temporary?” asked the aid.
“About a week, I think,” said Mary.
“Why cast the spell on them after
becoming vampires when she could have done it when they were still human with
vampire blood in them?” asked the aid.
“That’s a very good question,” said
Mary, “and to be honest, I do not have the answer.”
“Unless,” said the aid, “Victoria
plans on having the spell cast on herself thus giving her access to Atlantis.”
“Well she is human,” said Mary, “And
if she was granted access to Atlantis, it wouldn’t take her long to take over
the kingdom once she arrives but the spell will completely cloak the vampires’
true nature while in Atlantis so giving Victoria access to the underwater dome
would not mean she would be able to use her vampire powers to control the minds
of Atlantisians. Plus the vervain will prevent that too.”
“My queen,” said the aid, “if let’s
say the spell is cast on Victoria, would it be permanent?”
“Yes,” said the queen.
“And what would that mean to the
vampires in the clan?” asked the aid.
“They too would have permanent
access to Atlantis,” said the queen, “I know what you are thinking my child and
you are right. We have to rescue Jessica from Victoria’s clutches tonight.”
“How?” asked the aid.
“Well Martha,” said Mary, “choose
five fairies to go with you secretly in the cave. One of you will be the decoy
and get caught while the other four will collectively use their magic fairy
dust to transport the bottle to the fairy realm.”
“And what will become of the fairy
who is the decoy?” asked Martha.
“That’s a good question,” said Mary,
“I guess the fairy will have to sacrifice herself to save the people of
Atlantis.”
“I’ll start on that right away,”
said Martha, “Will you be going back to the human realm soon?”
“Yes,” said Mary, “in fact I’ll go
right now.”
