Michelle’s room…[U1]
“Dear Diary,” she writes, “well I
solve one mystery about myself that will explain a lot. Apparently, I’m the
queen of the vampires or at least one queen. I don’t know a lot of the details
but my parents were vampires and they had me. And I guess if a girl is born to
two vampires then she is automatically going to be the next queen. I hope my
grandparents will tell me more about them. I might have to do some research if
they don’t but we’ll see.”
She pauses for a moment and thinks
about all the good that has been happening as well.
“I’m on the cheerleading squad,” she
writes, “It’s weird Athena is being really nice to me. And to think she was
trying to have me killed. She wasn’t doing it herself but was trying to have it
done accidentally. I may have no choice but to have her become her worse fear
just to despite her and that’s to become a vampire.”
She pauses again.
“Speaking of which,” she writes, “I
can become a vampire if I were to die. That is unless my clan’s numbers are
high and that will allow me to come back as a queen. To think I can be stabbed,
shot, hanged, drowned, electrocuted, and many other things and still I would
come back alive as the queen of the vampires who can’t die that way again. I
might ask or rather command Athena and Aphrodite to assist me in this
experiment. Wouldn’t they be surprise when they find out I know what I am and
that they are wanting me dead so they can be free of my control? I wonder
though if I died in any of those ways those who are vampires in my clan if they
will die too. I imagine they won’t because I will come back to live and
probably instantly. Well that is all I have to write for now. Thanks for
listening to me and understanding.”
She stops writing.
“Michelle!” called the voice.
“Oh no,” she sighed, “not again.”
“The time has come to make a
decision,” said the voice, “It is either embrace what you are and rule your
clan or continue on that path of destruction where you kill your own kind.”
“How is that a path of destruction?”
she asked.
“You have a great destiny a head of
you,” said the voice, “I am that destiny.”
“But what if I don’t want that
destiny,” said Michelle, “It is because of vampires I am being raised by my
grandparents.”
“But your parents were vampires,”
said the voice.
“Which is why vampires are the
reason I was raised by my grandparents,” said Michelle, “If my mom had not
become one then I wouldn’t be a queen.”
“Michelle,” said the voice, “If your
mom hadn’t become a vampire, you wouldn’t be period.”
“Yes, I would,” said Michelle, “I
just wouldn’t have a vampire father.”
“No,” said the voice, “It doesn’t
work that way. Your mother had to be with your father in order for you to be
brought into this world. And your mother couldn’t get pregnant by your father
unless she was what he was.”
“No!” said Michelle, “I refuse to be
a vampire queen.”
“Then you best not plan on killing
yourself in order to make you invulnerable to death though all those ways you
were thinking of,” said the voice.
“What do you mean?” asked Michelle.
“What I mean is if you make yourself
invulnerable to several ways toward death and all those members of your clan
are destroyed do you know what happens to you?”
“No,” said Michelle.
“You die,” said the voice.
“Wait are you saying that if I hang,
shoot, stab, electrocute, drown myself just to make me invulnerable to those
things that if all the vampires in my clan are slayed that I will immediately
die from each of those things?” asked Michelle.
“The last thing that kills you is
what your death will be the result of,” said the voice.
“Oh no,” said Michelle, “if word
gets out that I’m a vampire queen and there are several people who are under my
control because my blood is in them they will be just as amp to kill me as the
Olym cousins.”
“Depress?” asked the voice.
“Yes, I am,” said Michelle, “I may
have no choice but to embrace what I am in order to guarantee I survive.”
“That is exactly what I have been
trying to tell you,” said the voice, “You have no choice I am what you are and
I am what you are destined to me.”
“No,” said Michelle, “I’m a Van
Helsing that makes me the heir apparent to be the greatest slayer of my
generation.”
“Find,” said the voice, “but if you
keep slaying your own people then one day they will revolt against you in order
to save their clan. A mutiny is not what you will want to face if you are
killing your own.”
“Then I want kill my own,” said
Michelle, “I’ll only kill members of other clans.”
“What about rogues?” asked the
voice, “are you going to slay them too?”
“What’s a rogue?” asked Michelle.
“A rogue is a vampire not loyal to
any clan,” said the voice, “It is what both of your parents were. It is why
your parents were able to have you. Any one made a vampire by blood that is not
from a queen is a rogue with one exception. Those who are made directly by the
queen and directly by those who are made by the queen are not going to be
rogues. A queen’s blood is not as strong in the third and beyond generation
vampires so this is why they need to feed on their queen’s blood in order to become
stronger and receive the perks of being in a clan.”
“But you said rogues are not loyal
to any clan,” said Michelle.
“That’s right,” said the voice,
“They are not loyal to any clan which is why they normally choose not to drink
the blood of the queen whose line is the source of their creation. If they do
the loyalty is only good for one year and they must renew. It is that weakness
of the queen’s blood in them that also keeps them from going outside during the
daytime because they need stronger queen’s blood in them in order to survive in
daylight.”
“Well to answer that question,” said
Michelle, “yes, I would go after the rogues too.”
“But how are you going to know the
difference,” said the voice, “Vampires are all going to look the same rather they
are loyal to you or to another queen or not at all.”
“You sure aren’t going to leave me
alone are you?” asked Michelle.
“No, I am not,” said the voice,
“like I said, “I am your destiny. Embrace or suffer huge consequences.”
Michelle is silent for a moment.
“What kind of vampire would I be if
I were to die and become one?” asked Michelle.
“You would be a rogue,” said the
voice, “But a very special case of rogues, one that is a former queen.”
“I’ve got to think about this for a
while,” said Michelle.
“Isn’t this what you have been
doing?” asked the voice, “thinking about it.”
“No,” said Michelle, “I’ve been
talking to you about it, whoever you are.”
“But have I not said multiple times
that I am you,” said the voice, “Go! Look into a mirror and see for yourself.”
“The last time I looked into a
mirror I saw someone who looked nothing like me,” said Michelle, “what I saw
was a vampire.”
“Well then look again,” said the
voice.
“No,” said Michelle, “whoever you
are, you are definitely not me! And I will not embrace being the Queen of the
Vampires.”
“You have no choice!” said the
voice, “Do you even know why you are even talking to me?”
“Yeah,” said Michelle, “People have
died with my blood in them and have become vampires that has cause me to become
a queen. But just because that is true does not mean I have to embrace it.”
“Michelle,” said the voice, “I am
that queen that awoke when those people became vampires. The only way to get
rid of me is to kill your own clan and if you plan on doing that you better get
ready to feel the pain of their deaths and you better not try to kill yourself
in any way, shape or form or you will become a rogue. And remember killing
members of your own clan could lead to a mutiny which is something you do not
want if you are killing members of your own clan.”
“Will you please shut-up,” said
Michelle.
“You still don’t believe that I am
you,” said the voice, “Go to a mirror and see for yourself. What do you have to
lose? If you still see something that doesn’t resemble yourself then fine I’m
not you but if you see yourself then you must believe what I am telling you and
embrace what you are.”
“You know,” said Michelle, “you’re
right. I have nothing to lose.”
She gets up from her desk and enters
her bathroom. She turns the light on and faces herself in the mirror and the
very thing she see is…
“I was right,” said Michelle, “You
look nothing like me so you can’t be me!”
“Keep looking in the mirror,” said
the voice, “Do not move your eyes away from the mirror!”
Michelle watches as the image she
sees in the mirror slowly changes into her own reflection.
“No!” she shouted, “It can’t be! I
can’t be that monster that was just there! I don’t want to be that monster! I
just want to be human!”
“You are still human,” said the
voice, “that is what makes you so special because as long as you live you will
be queen.”
“No,” said Michelle, “I will never
embrace that part of me. I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you from taking over
even if I have to put a stake into my own heart to kill us both.”
“That will never happen,” said the
voice that begins to laugh, “Because there are forces out there that went
through a lot of trouble to awaken me and I am not going to allow you to push
me away so easily. If I have to make a hostile takeover I will.”
“Forces like what?” asked Michelle.
“Another queen,” said the voice.
“Another queen?” asked Michelle with
interest.
“Yes, it is through manipulations
caused by another queen that you are now one yourself,” said the voice, “She
was behind that tent collapse that happen months ago. She was behind your blood
going into the majority of those injured. She was behind how your blood was
obtained.”
“The blood-donor drive,” said
Michelle, “that nurse, she was a vampire. Oh If I find her out in town I will
not hesitate to slay her.”
“That’s the spirit Queen Michelle,”
said the voice, “Declare war on that clan embrace the hate and your destiny
will be fulfilled.”
“No!” said Michelle, “I’m not going
after her because I’m a queen. I’m going after her because I’m a Van Helsing!”
“You are a vampire queen,” said the
voice, “You will embrace it. That is the truth!”
Michelle grabs her head and shakes
wildly.
“Get out of me you…you…you…monster,”
she said, “I do not want to be Queen of the Vampires. I want to be a vampire
slayer. Just leave me alone!”
Her wild shaking causes her to knock
into stuff and the noise that was resulting out of this chaos alerted her
parents.
“Michelle,” said Mary, “what is
going on?”
“The Mirror,” said Michelle, “what
do you see in it?”
“I see a young teenage girl who
looks like she is addicted to drugs,” said David.
“Dad,” said Michelle who just gave
him a look, “you know I’m not on drugs.”
“Yeah,” said David, “I know
sweetheart.”
“What is happening?” asked Mary,
“maybe I can help.”
“Unless you can make me a fairy,”
said Michelle, “I don’t think you can help me.”
“Is a voice bothering you
sweetheart?” asked Mary.
“Yes,” said Michelle who exits her
bathroom and sits on her bed in her room, “She is trying to convince me that
she is me and that I should embrace what I am and become officially the queen
of the vampires.”
“Is that what you want?” asked Mary.
“No,” said Michelle, “what I want is
to be a great vampire slayer like my ancestor was.”
“But she want leave you alone will
she,” said David.
“That’s right,” said Michelle,
“right now she is calling my name to get a response out of me but I am trying
to ignore her. I just want to be a normal kid!”
“You can be,” said Mary, “but it will be a painful experience for you.”
“You mean slaying all the vampires
in my clan don’t you?” asked Michelle.
“That’s exactly what I mean,” said
Mary.
“I’ve already weighed that option,”
said Michelle, “If they find out that I am slaying them one by one they could
stage a mutiny.”
“And who told you this?” asked
David, “the voice in your head.”
“Well it’s in my head now,” said
Michelle, “but before you guys came in here it was a voice I was hearing with
my own ears.”
“Before there can be a mutiny of
your clan,” said Mary, “they first must be united under a strong leader and
that leader would be you.”
“So if I slay them before I unite
them in my clan then they can’t rebel against me?” asked Michelle.
“Exactly,” said Mary.
Michelle gives a sigh of relief.
“Well one good thing that voice is
doing for me is letting me know that another queen is behind all of this,” said
Michelle, “the first thing I am going to do is stop going to that clinic so no
more vampires can be possible to be made.”
“You mean you were still donating
blood?” asked Mary, “we told you a long time ago when you did it the first time
that it was a bad idea.”
“Yeah,” said Michelle, “now I know
why.”
“Well for what it is worth,” said
David, “stop going to that clinic is a good idea.”
“I’m also going to slay that vampire
who has been posing as a nurse at the school and the clinic,” said Michelle.
“What about the vampires in your own
clan?” asked Mary, “What will you do about them?”
“I’m going to have to slay them
too,” said Michelle, “I’ll pay for it the next day with a lot of pain but I
have to make myself human again.”
“At least you have the Olym cousins
to help you out,” said David.
“I don’t know if I can really trust
those two,” said Michelle, “They want me dead so they won’t have to worry about
becoming vampires if they were to die. But really, with the way I humiliate
them at school, they probably just won’t me to stop controlling them which I
can’t do if I’m dead.”
“Well,” said David, “when you go out
on your hunt tonight, don’t take them with you.”
“That’s a good idea,” said Michelle,
“Thank-you, dad.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart,” said
David.
Michelle looks at her bedside clock.
“Wow,” she said, “I better get ready
for my hunt. It’s almost sunset.”
“Okay,” said Mary, “We’ll let you
get ready and be careful tonight sweetheart.”
