“Athena, please believe me when I
say that it was not me that told you to lay low,” said Michelle.
“It wasn’t you?” asked Athena, “I
don’t understand.”
“I believe I have what they call a
split-personality,” said Michelle, “there’s me then there’s the vampire queen
hidden deep within me who’s trying to take control. She is the one who spoke
with you after your death.”
“If it wasn’t you-you,” said Athena,
“what were you doing at this time?”
“Experiencing a black out,” said
Michelle.
The first bell rings.
“I guess we better get to our first
classes before the tardy bell rings,” said Athena.
“No,” said Michelle, “It’s the first
day. They can’t fuss too much. Besides I still want to talk about this.”
“Okay,” said Athena, “but if I get
detention it will be your fault your majesty.”
“No, it won’t,” said Michelle.
“Of course it won’t,” said Athena
who then shook her head and blinked her eyes and said, “wait what?”
Michelle just laughs.
“What’s so funny?” asked Athena.
“Even though you are technically
dead,” said Michelle, “I can still make you do whatever I want.”
“Why is that so funny?” asked
Athena.
“Because you are supposed to be the
most powerful girl at this school and yet I can control your every move,” said
Michelle.
“I don’t find that funny,” said
Athena, “in fact I was hoping something would happen to you so that connection
between us would end but instead I’m more connected to you than ever. If you
die then so do I.”
“Oh,” said Michelle, “At least, you
can’t die yourself except for a stake in the heart.”
“An act that will cost you just as
much pain and suffering,” said Athena.
“I know,” said Michelle, “but I can
help that.”
“Okay,” said Athena, “You were
saying that it wasn’t you that appeared to me and Aphrodite when we died last
night. That it was the vampire queen in you that was a completely different
personality. Is that right?”
“Yes, it is,” said Michelle.
“Okay,” said Athena, “In the
instance the queen does take over, how will I know it is her and not you?”
“Did she mention before your
awakening about gathering the clan at some point?” asked Michelle.
“Yes, she did,” said Athena.
“When that event happens then you
know she is in control of me,” said Michelle, “but trust me, it will not
happen.”
“Look, Michelle,” said Athena, “you
might not worry about being late and all but I am and the tardy bell just rung.
Please allow me to go to my next class.”
“Go ahead,” said Michelle.
“Thank-you,” said Athena.
She exits the girls’ restroom.
Michelle however goes over to the mirror.
“Well hello there old friend,” she
said while looking at her reflection, “care to say anything before I start the
8th grade?”
No response.
“What’s that?” asked Michelle,
“You’re not going to transform my reflection and speak this time. And you call
yourself the queen of the vampires. I told you I would not embrace you and that
I would keep you from taking over and I was right.”
“I don’t know who you are talking
too young lady,” said a voice, “but I would advise you get to your first class
now or you might be placed in all-day detention.”
Michelle turns around and it is the
secretary.
“Oh it’s you,” said Michelle.
She looks into the young woman’s
eyes and sees what she is and immediately knows she can’t make her do what she
wants.
“Rats,”
she thought, “a fairy. Man I wish I could
turn her into stone or something.”
“You
can,” came an answer from a voice in her head.
“Who
said that?” she thought, “or rather
thought that?”
“I
did,” said the voice, “The name is
Victoria. Do you remember me?”
“Vaguely,”
thought Michelle, “Hey, wait a minute.
You’re the one who convince me to sign up to donate blood last spring. You
caused this all to happen.”
“No,”
said Victoria, “You made all this happen
I just provided the means. But there is a reason why I did this.”
“There
is?” asked Michelle.
“Yeah,”
thought Victoria, “I wanted a companion
in this world just like me who understood me and such.”
“Wait,
you’re a Vampire Queen, too?” asked Michelle.
“Yeah,”
said Victoria, “I am. And because I am I
know how you can make her turn to stone.”
“Are
you going to share that thought with me?” asked Michelle.
“Sure,”
said Victoria, “All you have to do is
rotate your right hand in a clockwise direction causing a circle of swirly
lights to appear. Then state the spell you wish you cast and throw that circle
at your target. The instance it hits your desire target, she will begin to turn
to stone.”
“Okay,”
said Michelle, “I’ll give it a try.”
She rotates the right hand creating
a circle of swirly lights and throws them at her target saying, “Turn to
Stone!”
The instance the lights touched the
school secretary she began to turn to stone.
“So the newest vampire queen has
acquired witchcraft powers now,” she said, “Fortunately, for me I have a
counter spell handy that will save me without turning me into a witch.”
She quickly with her free mobilized
hand touched her fairy gem on her headband and wished to become a fairy.

“You’re a fairy?” asked Michelle.
“Yes, I am,” said the secretary who
then sprinkles dust on herself then returns to her human form.
