Bite Me v.7 Prologue

Author's note: This is the Prologue to the story. I am posting it tonight because I forgot there was one and therefore didn't include it in the schedule. Please enjoy.

Bite Me v.7
By: Edwin Sentell

Prologue

“Dear Diary,” writes a young teenage girl, “A lot has happen since my last entry. What has it been, a month now? I don’t know. I guess time goes on forever when you’re the Queen of the Vampires. And this is why I am writing about this past year.  I just had to tell someone about what happen and how it made me feel. And you have always been there for me ready to listen and you never have criticized me for anything and for that I thank you. So where do I begin…?”

She takes a moment to think about this question.

“I guess I’ll begin with what happen exactly one year ago today,” she continues to write, “It is a day that changed my life forever and I didn’t even know it yet and honestly it will be months before I will know about it. So what did happen that day? Well I gave blood to the local blood bank. And I did this against the wishes of my parents…err…I mean grandparents and that blood was then used to save the lives of many people including my fellow students. But I will get to that in a bit.  So you want me to start from the beginning huh? Okay, but even you a simple blank page in a book full of entries may not like me when I am done. It actually didn’t start exactly a year ago today. I know I don’t have to actually tell you this but it is to help me keep the facts straight in my head. The date was Monday, April 2, 2012; I was an 7th grader and not a very popular one. An announcement came on the intercom and…”

"Bite Me v.7" posting Schedule for July (tentatively)

Well I am done writing the first 20 chapters of my story I have been working on since April (I am right now planning of there being about 40 chapters maybe more). Below is the posting schedule for the Month of July. I am planning on posting one chapter a week for the next 20 or so weeks. With each chapter being divided up into "parts" there will be multiple posts of the story each week. For reference the plan is to do the following based on the number of parts I have divided each chapter into parts based on their length.

Two parts: Mondays and Fridays
Three parts: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Four parts: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays (most of the chapters or this)
Five parts: Mondays through Fridays
Six parts: Mondays through Saturdays
Seven parts: Mondays through Fridays (one each) and two on Saturdays
Eight parts: See the Four parts rotation but for two weeks
Nine parts: See the Three parts rotation but for three weeks
Ten parts: See the Five parts rotation but for two weeks
More that ten parts: To be determined.

Now for the schedule for July (subject to change at anytime):

Monday, July 1, 2013- Chapter One Part 1
Wednesday, July 3, 2013- Chapter One Part 2
Friday, July 5, 2013- Chapter One Part 3

Thursday, July 11, 2013- Chapter Two Part 4
Friday, July 12, 2013- Chapter Two Part 5

Monday, July 15, 2013- Chapter Three Part 1

Monday, July 29, 2013- Chapter Five Part 1
Wednesday, July 31, 2013- Chapter Five Part 2
Friday, August 2, 2013- Chapter Five Part 3

I will post the August Schedule a little closer to the start of that month and will include any necessary adjustments if this schedule isn't met exactly.
So those who are eagerly and patiently waiting for this to be posted, keep an eye out for them and enjoy when they are posted because Chapter one Part 1 goes up tomorrow. And if everything goes according to my plan Chapter 20 should be up in Mid-November. Hopefully, by then the next few chapters (actually all 20 of the next 20+) should be ready to be posted and by then the whole story could be completed by the by mid-spring of 2014 (and that's just an estimate).

Also next Saturday is when I plan on going to see "Man of Steel". Expect a review of the movie that night. And plus I will be doing reviews of TV shows and DVDs as well. I'm going to start by reviewing the first two seasons of "Dallas" as soon as I finish watching them (this means the review may go up before the movie review does.) Look for all of my movie reviews under the label by the same name. In fact all of my reviews will be under the following labels:

Movie Reviews (Watched in a theater)
DVD Reviews (watched on DVDs)
TV Reviews (watched on TV)

To keep things from being confusing I might split the DVD Reviews up according to the shows or movies I am watching for example "Dallas" will be under the "Dallas" label.

Well that is all for right now. Again "Bite Me v.7" Chapter One Part 1 will be up sometime tomorrow.

The Power Rangers' Legend War

Well I said in an earlier post I would reveal my thoughts on the upcoming "Power Rangers Legend War" that is to be part of the 20th anniversary of the TV franchise. Well here they are:

I am so looking forward to it. I am not real certain on all the details. What I know is from what I have read on "Rangerboard". And that there is going to be a huge alien invasion coming. One so massive that all the Rangers from the last 20 years (21 since the after math or the war itself will be next year) will unite to fight this invasion and win sacrificing all of there powers along the way. We know of 10 or 11 rangers that came back for the purpose of filming this special battle. The footage shown so far in the current series is from the Super Sentai series from Japan. I believe it is call Gokaiger. In that series the team is looking for the great treasure of the universe and along the way they fight evil morphing into past teams to stop another invasion. They meet members of past teams that grant them their teams' special power or something. I don't know what really happens. I just know they were pirates and they grew throughout the season to become true heroes.

How is that going to be adapted into Power Rangers. Well the season that will focus on this will be Power Rangers Super Megaforce. The team which will be the same ones from this season (same name minus the super part) and the Gokaiger suits will be a power up so they can access the past teams' suits. Now how will all of this take place and what will happen in the episode, special or scene which ever it may be? I don't know. This probably won't happen until next year so I will have to wait until then.

But if I was writing the opening scene this is how I will do it:

We come in from this sky and see this huge gathering of people. In front of them is a small group of men (probably former Red Rangers) One of them (preferably Jason the original Red Ranger) will speak rallying the group. But as he speaks the camera shows everyone to be indeed former Rangers (using as much stock footage over a green screen or photoshop in or whatever to show they are there if the actors (for whatever reason couldn't be it). Jason asks the crowd if they are ready and huge "yeah!" is given and he follows that with an even louder: "It's Morphin' Time!" And after this we see 18 different teams morphing into their ranger forms. The invasion happens and the battle begins.

Now questions could be raised about certain characters who held more than one power. I say who cares. Show Tommy saying: "Dragonzord," Tigerzord," Zeo Ranger Five: Red", and "Dino Thunder Power Up!" If they use stock footage it won't matter. I'm going to love it no matter what I do.

Well that is all I've got to say about this topic. If anyone who reads it, if you are a Power Ranger Fan, please comment. I'll enjoy reading your thoughts on my idea. And if you are not a Power Ranger Fan but you have kids, grand-kids, nieces, nephews, neighbors, or friends who are fans and that has you interested in this please comment as well. I would also like to apologize again about posting so much about this topic. But when you have a show that has been on for 20 years and it was the first of its kind in America, that is a good reason to celebrate no matter who the target audience is for.

Blog updates

Okay, this post is going to be the first of many where I give updates for my plans with the blog. Right now, I don't know what my next post will be and I won't be counting this as this week's blog entry. I haven't seen "Man of Steel" and I want to soon so I can post a review of it. And I would also like to start reviewing other things I've seen (mostly TV shows and DVDs). But what schedule I'll have in regard to these reviews, I don't know. When I think I can do a good review of something I'll type it up and post it. Also these will be typed reviews and not Vlogs because as I have explained before, I'm a bit camera shy and don't really have the necessary privacy to do them.

Right now I am working hard on trying to edit my chapters for my story "Bite Me V.7". This is so when I post them they will be hopefully 100% mistake free. Plus, the chapters will be divided up into multi-parts due to their length.  When I'll start posting them, I don't know but when I do I will post a tentative schedule under the updates label.

Well that is all I have for tonight. Tomorrow, will be my official post for the week so keep an eye out for it any time between 2 and 10.

Which do you remember most about your favorite TV Theme Songs?

Okay, this is a question that has been on my mine lately. And I see there are three basic answers to this question. 1. The theme lyrics; 2. The tune; and 3. the Opening sequence that goes with it. My answer is all three. For some theme songs it is the lyrics; for others it is the tune (let's remember that for some the tune is all there is), and for the rest it is the opening sequence.

Now some examples of the theme songs I remember just the lyrics too are for shows like "Saved by the Bell" and "California Dreams" because are pretty popular songs. And others would be themes to just about any 80s cartoons.

Examples for the tunes would be for shows like "The Cosby Show," "Dallas," "Andy Griffith Show," and others.

Finally, the opening sequences. I am betting (and I am not a gambler) that most people remember the opening sequences for any of above shows more than they do the tune or the lyrics. But the example I am going to use is not listed. The name of the show I am talking about is "The Facts of Life." Now why do I remember the opening sequence to this popular show more than I do its lyrics or tune? Well I really only remember one particular scene from the opening sequence. It comes from one of the middle seasons after Mrs. Garret gets her store she and the girls run. At the end of the sequence she walks in and the four girls are all there standing ready to attack her with various objects thinking she is an intruder. Now this is actually a scene from an episode of that season but if you know show then you know what I am talking about. And this scene occurs at the very end of the sequence. And there is another scene like it from I believe the 3rd season and it shows the girls getting in a paint fight.

My whole point here is just about everyone goes around singing or humming theme songs every once a while. But what are they thinking in their minds when they are doing this. I bet it is the opening sequence every time and it may be the only way they can be sure to remember the right lyrics in the right order.

Now I am going to explain why I think people remember opening sequences more than the lyrics or the tune. There is an episode of "Full House" (whose theme will be the subject of another post somewhere down the line) where Jessie and Joey consider running a theme song contest on their radio show. Joey challenges Jessie to sing the lyrics of "Three's Company." Jessie begins singing it but can't remember all the lyrics and he describes some of the actual opening sequences to one of the later seasons. Now I know this was all scripted but how many people think about the sequences when theme songs are mention. Well that is what this post is about. I am going to post a poll so you, my readers can share what you remember most. It will only be up for a week so don't forget to vote if you would like. And always I appreciate any and all responses to my posts.

Power Rangers and Continuity

Okay, there is a lot of debate amongst Power Rangers fans about continuity, cannon, different universes and stuff. So I'm going to give my thoughts on the subject. I believe each season mainly beginning with "Lost Galaxy" is its own universe where the events of the previous seasons do occur in some shape or form but not necessary in the year that they actually aired. Examples follow:

In the "Lost Galaxy" universe, it occurs in the not too distant future after the events of the "In Space" finale.
In the "Lightspeed Rescue" universe, it occurs in the year it aired but the previous seasons and more specifically "Lost Galaxy" occurs in the distant past.
In the "Time Force" universe, it is the same thing.
In the "Wild Force" universe, it is the same thing.
In the "Ninja Storm" universe, it is the same thing.

And it is the same for each season all the way up to the current season of "Megaforce".

That is all I have to say for now. This is actually going to be the first of many posts to celebrate 20 years of the Power Rangers. They won't be posted consecutively each and every week. If something happens and I want to put my two cents out there on the topic I will do that and the next post for this series will be delayed. But future topics involving Power Rangers may include:

The Legend War that is supposed to occur and air at some point during this or next season.
The Participants in that war and who will have what powers according to my opinion.
My view on some of the controversies that have come out of the recent announcements of who would be coming back for the Legend War and who won't and why.
And other ideas that might pop into my head that I might want to do. And if ideas do pop into my head I might post what I will do as an update so I can remember I wanted to do them and why.

Well it will probably be only my Facebook friends who will read this and most of them know I am a Power Rangers fan although I am sure they wonder why but those who read this and who are Power Ranger fans, I hope you understand my point-of-view and it is okay if you disagree. Just please don't cut me down if you comment for having this viewpoint. This is my blog and I will delete any comment that cuts me down. If you have legit criticism for me that is fine.

That is all and I will check daily (or more often when possible) for views and comments on this post.

Individual Superheroes vs. Superhero Teams: Which is the better option?

I was talking about some of the individual heroes that I know about then I was going to talk about the teams but that may end up being to long of a post so I going to try a different approach.

I like superheroes. I love to watch them on TV. I love to watch movies about them (with some exceptions). but what I love more than anything is a team. Sure Superman kicking but every week in a cartoon is great but when does it along side Batman is just completely awesome. I have watched all the Iron Man movies and they are great. I have seen the other movies in the Marvel Movie Universe as well. But the best movie in this group is the Avengers Movie because it showcases all of them.

On the DC side of things, I love Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. But I really love it when the three of them team up. One cartoon that aired in the recent years that was just awesome was Batman: The Brave and the Bold where he teams up with just about every superhero out there. He even teams up with Space Ghost. Do people even know who that guy is now a days?

But what about teams do I like more than just the superheroes who work by themselves? I think the fact that they are a team and the concept of teamwork is in play when they are together is why I like them more than individuals. With Individuals they do not always have someone to hold them accountable. However when you have heroes working as a team they always (for the most part) hold each other accountable.

Justice League and the Avengers are prime examples of individual heroes working together in teams and holding each other accountable while working together. Now these are examples of teams with traditional individual Superheroes in them but what about the teams that are just teams to begins with. Well they always showcase good teamwork as well. Examples would be the Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

Now I'm going to talk about a team most people probably don't even know is still on TV and in fact you would have to add all the seasons of all the TV incarnations of Superman together to surpass the number of years this team has been on TV. But as far as episode counts goes this show beats them all (actually I don't know if that is true because I don't know episode counts for most of the incarnations of Superman but what I'm talking about is very close to 800 episodes so could they really be that high? I think not!) And the same can be said about Batman too. The Green Arrow is the most recent to have a live action series (the first actual live action version was actually on Smallville) but the Flash had one years ago and Wonder Woman is well known for her series. But this show surpasses them all and I would have to say despite the different incarnations there are of this team they have to be the greatest team of superheroes ever. Who are they? The Power Rangers!

Now why do I mention them? Well they are celebrating 20 years on TV and that is 20 years without stopping. Okay, the truth is they were not on with new episodes in 2010. The only thing that actually aired that year was a revamp version of the very first season. But despite everything they have still been on TV for the last 20 years and their popularity is still very high. Now yes it is a "kids' show" but so what they're superheroes. That is the only reason I really still watch them and I will continue to watch them until they go off the air for good. Then again I am collecting the box sets of the earlier and current seasons so I will be watching them for years to come.

Okay, I was just starting high school when the show started. I didn't really like the concept of the show at first. But watching one episode is all it took to fall in love with it. But unfortunately I couldn't until I was a senior in high school and I really started watching it when I got into college. And I have been watching it ever since. Well I don't watch the repeats as much but when one airs I haven't seen in a long time I watch it. And I am watching the current season when it airs.

The reason the show has lasted for so long is because it was something very different when it started. It was the first live-action kids show of its kind. It took action footage from a Japaneses show and mixed it with American Actors who went through everyday teenage problems. This is something kids could relate to and they loved it.

But despite all of this do I really think teams are better than individual superheroes. In the area of storytelling, yes I do. But when it comes to the real world, the answer is an individual superhero who is better. In particular, one superhero is better than the rest and I am happy to say that he is my personal superhero, my savior Jesus Christ. He saved the world by dying on the cross for our sins so when we die we won't have to be eternally separated from him if we believe and I do. Thank-you Lord Jesus for dying for my sins and saving me from eternal death.

In conclusion I believe that superhero teams is better than the single individual superheroes because of the companionship that can occur and the accountability too. This is my opinion what is your? Please respond in the comment section and participate in the pole I'm going to put up to go with this post. Thank-you and God Bless.
